On Monday afternoon, I got a phone call from the school nurse saying that Alexa had complained of a sore throat during lunch. It didn't sound serious to me, but the nurse said that she took a look at the back of her throat using a flashlight and that she saw white patches. The boys and I went to pick her up from school and then headed to the pediatrician's to get her checked out. It's always a nightmare taking 4 little kids to a doctor appointment, but they did pretty good this time. The nurse did a throat swab test and while we were waiting for results, the pediatrician came in to examine Alexa. Based on her symptoms (cough, nasal drainage, no fever) she said that she was sure that Alexa just had a mild virus. However, she was shocked when the results were positive for strep throat. Luckily Alexa has not been miserable, in fact I'd say she has been acting perfectly normal. We left with a prescription for an antibiotic for 10 days and instructions to keep her home for 24 hours.
Alexa stayed home from school on Tuesday. She was begging me to take her to the park or swimming pool. She doesn't look sick, does she?
I thought some fresh air would be good for all of us so we took the easel out on the front porch. The kids had fun getting creative with paint.
Gavin is very particular when painting or coloring. He really focuses and tries to stay in the lines perfectly.
By the time Gavin finished his picture, the only white space remaining was the whites of Raphael's eyes!
