The Wizard of Oz

Happy Halloween

Dorothy and Toto

The Tinman
The (not-so) Cowardly Lion

It was a beautiful fall day for taking pictures.

"Stay in there, Toto!" says Alexa.

Alexa's just checking on Toto in the basket.

Alexa also thinks that Mommy should be the good witch and Daddy should be the bad witch, or  a flying monkey if he wants!

Loved the braids!  My hair stylist did this for Alexa!  Thanks, Angie!

These four are so hard to photograph!  I try so hard, but there's always something!  Yes, Tysen is putting a rock in his mouth.  Hopefully it still made you smile a little bit.

This was the closest that I could come to finding a yellow brick road.  It would have been even better if I could have gotten them to link arms, skip, and sing "We're off to see the Wizard!" But that wasn't going to happen, especially since the Scarecrow can't walk yet!

The ruby slippers really stand out!

Her hair looked gorgeous!

Scarecrow is getting sleepy.

Tinman needs some oil!

This sweet little face isn't going to scare anyone!

Ready for Halloween!

Alexa helped me with a special craft last night.  We made some spooky ghosts that we plan to hang from our front porch on Halloween night.  Alexa got creative and used the small pouch that our sheets came in to make a hand puppet ghost! Then she used some of the leftover adhesive felt to make herself a silly beard!

We hung our two ghosts from our stair rail tonight because of the weather.  We are having high winds , rain, and even some snow so I was afraid our ghosts may fly away if I put them out too soon!

Alexa looked festive today at gymnastics in her orange tutu and black leotard and leggings.

Halloween Fun Run 5K

Our family ran in a Halloween Fun Run this morning.  It was a fundraiser benefiting some of Matthew's PT students at OSU.  It was also a costume contest.  We didn't know that Matt was going to be in town until the day before the race, so we hadn't planned the costumes (only I had registered for the run and I had child care arranged).  Once Matt's trip was cancelled due to the hurricane, we decided that we would all participate so we scrambled to come up with some costumes.  (These are not the kids' Halloween costumes,  they have something even cuter lined up for the 31st!)  I already had my costume ready so that was easy.  We had 3 children's Incredibles costumes from last year that I was actually able to find the night before the run (that was amazing in itself!).  Gavin's going through a Spiderman phase right now and so we decided that he could just wear his Spiderman pajamas, slippers, and winter hat!  He looked great and it was stuff we already had, plus he wore it to bed the night before so he was super easy to get ready in the early morning!  That left Matt's costume.  On Saturday night, I had taken Alexa and Gavin to a movie and while we were out, we stopped by Target and I let them pick something for Daddy.  Well, Alexa first picked Hello Kitty, but I didn't think Matt would appreciate that too much!  Then we found the Batman mask and chest piece.  I knew that he had a black running shirt and tights that he would use so it was a cheap costume.
Getting some bagels to eat after the run

It was really cold so we had to pose in the hallway.  During the run, the kids stayed nice and warm bundled with blankets and each other in the jogging strollers.  I wished that I could get inside, too!

Our Super Hero Family

After the race, I took the little boys back to the van so we could warm up while Matt waited for the results of the costume contest.  We won second place!

Once we got home, we took some more cute photos since it was too cold at the race.
