Alexa's 100th Day of School

Two days ago, I received an email from Alexa's kindergarten teacher informing parents that Thursday would be the kids' 100th day of school. She also asked that the parents and child work together on a project and design a t-shirt representing 100 items. Although it wasn't required, it stressed me out a tad with the short notice. We searched the internet for some ideas (since when did celebrating the 100th day become popular anyways? I never did this in school.) and Alexa picked her favorite. A quick trip to Michael's for some craft supplies and we got to work.
Alexa is counting 100 pom poms (gum balls).
I applied the glue and she applied 99 gum balls in the gum ball machine and it was her idea to put the 100th in the little door.
Pushing them all down in the glue- hoping they all stay put throughout the school day (they DID NOT)
The finished project! Alexa was really proud of it.
She couldn't wait to get to school and show her teacher and friends! (Turns out only 2 other students finished the project.)

Pool

The kids have been enjoying the pool this winter. They were exhausted after playing and swimming all evening. Even though we got them to bed by 8:30, Alexa's teacher sent us an email the next day informing us that Alexa asked to stay in the reading corner during recess and fell asleep!

Farm visit

We recently took the kids to visit a farm. Matt's coworker had invited us out because some baby goats were recently born.
This little guy's name is Homer and he lost his mama during birth so he's bottle fed.
Bowen wasn't sure what to think. Tysen loved the animals and I knew that Alexa and Gavin would.

New Year 5K

We've decided to make this our New Year's family tradition. It was much warmer this year compared to last (40 degrees) and no snow made pushing the strollers much easier.  We were the only family pushing 4 young children and it's a good thing people couldn't notice that I was 5 months pregnant with all my warm clothes on or we would have gotten even more interesting comments.
Alexa asked to get out and ran a good portion of the race with Daddy. She crossed the finish line and they put Matt's finishers medal around her neck. She loved that and has been asking to do another race.

Waiting in line for yummy Yabo's Tacos after the run

Bowen is "talking" on my medal like its a phone!

Cozy blankets

The kids got a nice Christmas surprise from their cousin, Abby. She made each of them their own special blanket. The kids love snuggling up and keeping warm on these chilly winter days.
Thanks, Abby!

Rollerblades

Gavin got a new pair of Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtle rollerblades for Christmas. The kids were excited to get some exercise outdoors on an unusually warm day.
It took so much time to get all their protective gear on: elbow and knee pads, wrist guards, and helmets. We don't want any more broken bones!

Gavin did great for his first time! He was proud.
Alexa has improved lots since the last time she skated in the fall.

Exciting news!

I am so glad that I video taped the kids' reactions when we told them our big news.  This video is priceless to me and I've watched it dozens of times.

Christmas 2013

We had such a magical Christmas morning!  I loved seeing the kids' eyes light up when they came down the stairs and saw the living room.
Santa found the Briggs house!

Alexa loves her new alarm clock from Cousin Masen.

Alexa's new doll and doll bed from Grandma Karla.
Bowen is in love with Alexa's new doll!  He loves holding her and feeding her.  He's going to be an excellent big brother!

We had family movie night and watched "Dispicable Me 2."  I made the first batch of popcorn from my new Whirley Pop.  It was delicious!  We actually stayed in our pajamas all day long, however Gavin and Tysen had opened up new Ninja Turtle pajamas that morning and they loved them so much that they had to change into their new jammies.  Silly boys!

Christmas Eve

Ready for the Christmas Eve Family Mass
Bowen's being ornery and won't stay in the picture.

Gavin's trying to hold him back.

Gavin 4 years
Alexa 6 years
Tysen 3 years
Bowen 20 months

Alexa and Gavin sang in the children's choir. They did great. We were so proud. I couldn't stop smiling.

The kids got to open one gift before bed.
New Christmas pajamas!

This baby has the best hair!
