Stingray Bay at the Columbus Zoo

The kids and I had a fantastic Friday! We started our day off with a trip to the zoo because I had read on the zoo's website that they had free admission to the Stingray Bay today. It turned out to be a wonderful day to visit the zoo because it was nice and cool and no crowds! Can't beat that!

When we got to the Stingray Bay, the kids and I had to scrub our hands and arms clean before we could enter. Once inside, we were encouraged to stick our arms in the tank and let the stingrays swim past us. The kids were scared to at first, but eventually warmed up to the idea. Tysen mostly liked getting himself all wet.

Here comes a big one!

Almost tall enough to reach!
The stingrays seemed to enjoy all the people and at times it seemed as if they were trying to play or show off! They would swim by a group of people and flip water out of the tank.
A zoo employee was nice enough to take a picture of us.
After the stingrays, the kids wanted to play. It was so nice that the play area wasn't crowded like it always is during the summer.

That's Alexa and Gavin inside the lady bug!

After they played, Alexa talked me into going inside the reptile house. I really hate snakes! Normally I like turtles, but these were snake-necked turtles and they really creeped me out!

"I touched it!"
You can see how she was a bit nervous about touching them, but once she did it, she giggled and seemed proud of herself!
