I was feeling rather brave this morning and decided to take the kids to church. Matthew was working so I knew that I would have my hands full. For the most part, the kids were really good. We went to the 11am service and Gavin was really fussy because it was time for his morning nap. Halfway through Mass, he fell asleep in my arms. Alexa played quietly with her doll and read some of her books. She kept watching the little boy sitting next to us. He noticed Alexa and said, "This is my mommy." as he pointed to his mother. Alexa nodded her head and yelled, "My mommy is Gena!" I was trying not to laugh and I told Alexa to use her quiet voice. She kept saying, "You are Gena!" I was feeling pretty good about things until the service ended and everyone was rushing to get outside. We go to a very large church and there were hundreds of people waiting to get outside. Alexa decided that she needed to go potty just then. So with Gavin asleep in my arms, we started to make our way to the bathrooms. Alexa ran ahead and I lost her in the crowd. I found her and was able to grab her just before she tried to jump in the baptismal fountain- thank goodness. That would have been embarrassing.
