2/27/2010

This weekend was Matthew's first day at a new job. He has started working part-time at the hospital I currently work at. He'll mostly work weekends and Fridays. Since he was working today, I had to take both kids with me to the grocery store. I was envisioning a nightmare, but they were so good! We had to use the enormous "race car" shopping cart since it's the only cart that will accommodate two children. It was hard to push but we got the job done. We went early, around 8:30 am so we'd beat the weekend crowd. I tried to turn it into a learning experience for the kids. Alexa helped me count 10 oranges and we talked about all the different colors of our produce. I would ask her to help me find items as I got near them. She'd yell, "There's the milk, Mama!" We also compared the sizes of items and I'd ask her to pick the biggest or smallest one. She loved helping me fill our cart.

She's such a good helper. She's helping me unpack the groceries and putting our oranges in the fruit basket.

She's also counting them as she goes.

"Ten orange oranges, Mama!"

There was a woman giving out samples of chocolate soy milk. Alexa liked it. You can see her milk mustache.

While Gavin was napping, Alexa helped (watched) me make rice krispie treats. They were so sticky! They were all over her clothes by the time we were done.

I bought the kids this Sesame Street ball at the grocery store as their reward for being so well behaved.
