Alexa has been really curious about my sewing machine. She likes to watch me sew and she kept asking me what I was doing. I kept explaining to her that I was making baby bibs, but it wasn't until I was finished and she could see the finished product that she understood. I told her that we were going to give them to the other babies in Tysen's class for Valentine's day. Then she announced that she wanted to make a bib for Daddy for Valentine's Day! I laughed and told her that Daddy wouldn't want a bib, but I told her that we could make something else for Daddy instead. Since I am just a beginner on the machine, there aren't very many things that I can make, but I suggested making Daddy a pillow. She loved that idea and got really excited. I let her go through my tote of fabrics. After taking all of the material out, she finally picked a solid, light green color. She wanted to make the pillow huge, but I was able to talk her into two smaller pillows. I told her that I was going to do the sewing because only grown-ups can use the sewing machine, but she got to do the most important job: stuff the pillow! She was so excited about the bag of stuffing! She said that it was like a sheep.
It took her a really long time to stuff the pillows because she used such small amounts every time!
Wow! They turned out really good. Alexa is so proud of them and she can't wait for Daddy to get home so that she can give them to him. (Daddy has been in New Orleans all week.)
She's testing them out, making sure they are soft enough.
Then we tied them up with ribbon. Good job, Alexa! I'm sure that Daddy will love his present.
