Gavin had his 12 month wellness checkup today. Here's his stats:
Weight: 22 lbs Height: 30 inches Head:47 cm
Gavin had a double ear infection approximately 2 weeks ago and he just recently finished his course of antibiotics and ear drops. I went to pick him up from daycare so we could go to his pediatrician appointment. When I walked in, he was just waking up from a nap. His teacher was changing his diaper and when I approached him to say hello and give him kisses, I noticed fluid and gunk oozing out of his left ear. I was shocked because I didn't even know that he was sick again but the more I think about it, he was acting a little fussier than usual on his birthday. Apparently his antibiotics weren't strong enough to clear his infection. At least we were on our way to see the doctor anyways! It did happen at a pretty convenient time. The pediatrician confirmed what I had suspected- his ears looked horrible and the left eardrum had ruptured again. This time he decided the best treatment would be an intramuscular injection of Rocephin- one now and a repeat dose 2-3 days later. I'll bring Gavin back again after 2 weeks to get his ears checked again. Hopefully this will do the trick! Other than the ears, the doctor was amazed at how well Gavin is doing. He was impressed that he's off the bottle, completely on whole milk, and walking all over the place. He told us to continue with what we're doing because we're doing a great job. That made me feel good!
