Fountains
Today I took the kids to Easton to play in the water fountains. They were having a blast until Gavin got stung by a bee on the thigh and we had to go home. He's doing fine now.
Good Morning!
I just love waking up every morning to these children. They are always so happy to see me. Today after I changed diapers, I was just looking at them and watching them play and thinking about how blessed I am. I am so lucky to be their mommy.
Our Little Artist
I just had to share this drawing because I was so impressed. Alexa drew a picture of her favorite (currently) stuffed toy, "Pinkie."

6/26/2012
I love seeing Bowen interacting with us and his toys more and more everyday.
I have been reviewing the letters of the alphabet with Alexa and Gavin. We try to go through their flash cards at least twice everyday during lunch. Alexa knows almost all the letters, Gavin recognizes about half, and I am hoping that Tysen starts to pick up on the picture words.
I think she's had enough letters for today!

Enjoying the king sized bed
Now that I am working the evening shift at the hospital, Daddy is responsible for putting the kids to bed at night. This is what I saw when I walked into our bedroom at 1 am this morning. Apparently, Bowen was being fussy and Daddy finally gave up out of exhaustion and just let him fall asleep next to him. He looks so sweet and comfortable stretched out on our bed. I almost didn't want to move him to his cradle, but I did because I don't want this to turn into a bad habit.
Swimming Pool
My wonderful neighbor watched Bowen for a couple hours today so that I could take the three older children to our community swimming pool. They had a blast!
Thanks, Lauren!
Alexa couldn't keep her hat on her head because she kept swimming underwater!
Alexa giving Tysen a hug
This looks like a nice way to stay cool and get a tanned back!
Tysen likes the water, but he doesn't like to wade in very far. I hope to get him more comfortable by the end of summer.
Bowen and Sophie the Giraffe
This was Bowen and Sophie's first meeting! He loves her squeak and he even grabbed onto her a few times and tried to stick her in his mouth.
He smiles really big when he sees Sophie.

Doctor's Visit
Tysen had a scheduled appointment for his 18 month checkup this morning. I have been worried about it for several weeks because I knew I would have to bring all the children along since we no longer use daycare. I planned for it, I had the diaper bag ready the night before and made sure I got up plenty early to get them all ready on time. When I went into Alexa's room to wake her up, I was shocked to see her eyes. They were full of yellow drainage. At first I was discouraged, but then decided that if it was going to happen, at least we were going to the pediatrician anyways! The morning went smoothly other than that and we actually arrived 20 minutes early for our appointment. Alexa, Gavin, and Tysen played quietly in the waiting room while Bowen nursed. I was hoping that he would fall asleep, but no such luck. The appointment went well and I was so proud of the kiddos. The doctor had a student with him today and they both made comments about how good the whole crew was, especially for being confined to such a small room for so long. When he was done with Tysen's exam, he asked if I had any concerns. I mentioned how Alexa's eyes had looked that morning and how I worried that all the kids would get pink eye. He gave Alexa a quick exam and sent us on our way with a prescription for an antibiotic eye drop with refills in case the others get it too. I love him! He was probably feeling bad for me since I really had my hands full and didn't want me to have to come back.
Here are Tysen's stats:
Weight 26 lbs 3 oz (75%)
Height 33 1/4 inches (75%)
Head circumference (90%)
Special Treat
Yeah, I am one of those moms....I bribe my children. I told them that if they were good at the doctor's office, we would go get ice cream. What can I say? It works for me and with 4 kids ages 4 and under, sometimes I need all the help I can get.
No ice cream for Tysen, but he loved the M&M cookie!
Happy girl
When Gavin's ice cream sundae came, he noticed right away that they forgot the cherry on top. He quickly showed the waitress the picture on the menu, pointed to the cherry, and said, "Where's the red circle?". She apologized for forgetting the best part and came back with a bowl of 5 cherries. Gavin was pleased.
(The kids got stickers at the doctors office. He put his on his shirt upside down. Cute.)
Alexa screams for ice cream!
